I'm hoping Higgs says some more tomorrow.
Did anyone else catch his slip into a Jager accent?
I still have some hypothesis on Higgs, though. He knows too much and he's too much on the ball and he -is- a spark. No reason a spark can't be a Jager. And he's Agatha's -something-, according to the Castle.
Which recognized him before he ripped that clank body in half. With a wrench.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

Heh, I missed that the other day, but I knew he had some connection. His ears are too pointy. Rather like some characters in Gargoyles, you could tell who had fey connections because their ears tended to be pointed.Maxus wrote:I'm hoping Higgs says some more tomorrow.

Personally, I'm betting he's Bill Heterodyne. It may be why he saved Klaus at such great personal effort. And why he turned up in the Jager Bar afterwards...
And his intro--the story of how he saved the Baron--sounds very much like a Heterodyne story. Over the top and a lot of "It made sense at the time".
His face and his sideburns look rather like Bill Heterodyne as he appears in flashbacks, too. Blond hair can be fixed.

Came back from a pretty cool exhibit at the San Jose Tech museum a few hours ago. There were a number of striking murals depicting important points in the history of the Mongol Empire, and I took note of the artist's name. When I Google him, I find that he has most of them online at his website, as well as some other stuff.

Now I am tempted to do some further research so I'll have something I can base a new region or political development on in one of my ongoing RPG campaigns. Or maybe a new module.

The only reason I have't watched more yet is because the torrent I found has subtitles, and I've been busy. Anyone know where I could find dubbed episodes?Lago PARANOIA wrote:Prak_Anima wrote:or kamina glasses referencesThe fuck you say?!

If you don't like Hulu for some reason, there are also YouTube and NetFlix links from the TTGL TVTropes page. Apparently they're totally legal "at least in the United States and Canada". O-o

The Rally to Restore Sanity was awesome. I'm honestly surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
Here's a link to Stewart's closing speech for anyone who missed it.

The first hour was mostly filler. As much as I like John Legend (he played with The Roots), it was a little frustrating to tune into the rally and get 45 minutes of music, followed by 15 minutes of the Mythbusters guys doing crowd estimates in the form of times waves. Probably mostly because I'd gotten only eleven hours of sleep in the last three days and woke up especially to watch the Rally.
But the ensuing two hours more than made up for it. Sam Waterston (Jack McCoy from Law & Order) read "an poem" about fear by Colbert. Cat Stevens and Ozzy Osbourne sang about trains. Both Stewart and Colbert handed out their respective sanity/fear awards to those they felt deserving (Colbert awarded his first to those media outlets that declined to cover the event because it might show bias on their part). And right before the closing speech, Colbert and Stewart faced off in a special edition of Formidable Opponent.
I keep hoping to see the clips online, but Comedy Central hasn't gotten themselves together enough to get them up yet. Apparently, C-Span streamed it live, and so far all the clips I've seen were taken from that.
And Keith Olbermann got all butthurt and missed the point (probably because he was one of the pundits clipped in the fear sketch). His tweet: It wasn't a big shark but Jon Stewart jumped one just now with the "everybody on Thr cable is the same" naiveté.

I don't know, I think PZs criticism of the event is pretty true though. It's a big talk about how we need to be nicer and stuff, but none of the people on one "side" are being mean in the first place.
Jon Stewart is so loved because he's actually the most hardcore criticizer of the right in the public sphere.
So talking about how we generically need to tone it down is pretty silly. Bottom line, no more false equivalence.
Fox needs to shut the fuck up or stop lying, CNN doesn't need to be nicer, they need to be dicks and call people nazis.

PZ as in this guy?Kaelik wrote:I don't know, I think PZs criticism of the event is pretty true though
'Cause I've gotta say... After reading his piece, I would accuse the man of lying about having watched it. And if he did actually have it on in the background (most of the day???), he clearly wasn't paying attention at all.
The purpose of the rally wasn't to tell Fox news to shut up. It was to demonstrate that the United States isn't made up of the extremists that get air time. It was to demonstrate that every day, there are people with differing beliefs who manage to work together at their jobs or on the road or at a political assembly - their differences aren't dividers that keep them from working together.
It was not only a plea for the media to stop giving a voice to whack-jobs [like Terry Jones], but also a plea to the government to stop the partisan bickering that is keeping anything from getting done. Personally, I thought the message was plain as day.
Maybe there weren't references made to each and every one of these items specifically, but there were most certainly allusions to most of them. Yet, PK claims they were missed. I literally cannot figure out what rally this guy was watching.PZ wrote: It could have been great; instead of embracing an apolitical perspective and saying nothing at all about values, it could have been a rally for moderation that emphasized the actual values that moderates hold: we believe in tolerance for people of different ethnicities and religious views and sexual preferences, we believe in building an egalitarian social and economic infrastructure, we believe in privacy and personal freedoms, etc., etc., etc., and they could have held to the theme of the rally by advocating rational argument and unified, organized activism within the system to advance those goals…but they didn't.

Jon Stewart isn't loved because he bashes the right. Anyone who says that is an idiot.
Jon Stewart is loved because he's the only person who bashes the right but treats them with respect and recognizes that they're not bad people. Just people who believe in different things.
Just look at his interview of Condi Rice from last week. Or his "sessions" with O'Reilly.
This is the reason why O'Reilly once even said "Stewart is the smartest guy in TV news. Period." Contradicting an entire panel of Fox News conservative pundits who were bashing Stewart as a satirist.
